For schools
TeachVic is a specialist teacher recruitment agency in Victoria, based in Melbourne. We find local and international teachers for government, Catholic and independent schools, aim to shortlist within 48 hours, and handle VIT registration and visas end to end.
Why use a teacher recruitment agency in Victoria
Hiring teachers in Melbourne and regional Victoria takes time most schools do not have: writing and posting ads, screening applicants, checking registration, and, for overseas candidates, managing registration and a visa. Teacher recruitment specialists do that work for you and widen your pool to teachers overseas. Unlike general education recruitment in Melbourne, we recruit teachers, and we screen every candidate before they reach you.
What we do for schools
- Shortlist fast. Send us the brief and we aim to shortlist within 48 hours.
- Match to your school, not just the job description: subject, year levels, school culture and sector.
- Recruit locally and internationally, for contract (fixed-term) and permanent (ongoing) roles.
- Handle VIT registration and visa sponsorship end to end, working with migration lawyers.
- Work across sectors: government, Catholic and independent schools, in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Teachers pay nothing to work with us. Schools pay our fee.
How it works
- Send us the vacancy. Use submit a vacancy or call 0435 175 001. Tell us the role, the start date and what makes your school distinctive.
- We search and screen. We check qualifications, registration status, English (for overseas candidates) and fit.
- You get a shortlist. We aim to shortlist within 48 hours.
- You interview and choose. You run your selection process; we coordinate.
- We handle the paperwork. For international hires, we manage VIT registration and the visa with our migration lawyers. Most four-year contracts we arrange are approved by the Department, immigration and VIT within 60 days.
How do schools hire international teachers?
When a role will not fill locally, an internationally qualified teacher can be the answer. Three things must be in place before they can start:
- VIT registration, including a qualifications assessment and, for teachers educated outside Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the USA, Canada or Ireland, an English test.
- A visa with work rights, usually the Skills in Demand (subclass 482) visa for teachers with at least a year of experience, or the Training (subclass 407) visa. See 482 or 407 visa for teachers.
- Checks, including a national criminal history check.
We manage all three. For the detail, read hiring international teachers and VIT registration for overseas teachers.
Teacher recruitment in Melbourne and regional Victoria
Whether you are hiring teachers in Melbourne’s growth suburbs or a regional school competing for applicants, we recruit for primary and secondary roles across Victoria. Some regional government roles also carry Department incentives for the teacher; see teaching jobs in regional Victoria for the current programs. Candidates ask about pay, so it helps to know the 2026 teacher pay agreement.
What you need to give us
- The role: subject or year levels, fixed-term or ongoing, full-time or part-time, and start date.
- Your school’s sector, location and what makes it distinctive.
- Any essentials, such as VCE experience, a specialist area, or Catholic accreditation for Religious Education or leadership roles.
- A contact for interviews and a sense of your timeline.
Common questions
How much does a teacher recruitment agency cost?
Schools pay our fee; teachers pay nothing. Talk to us about your role and we will explain our terms.

We aim to shortlist within 48 hours of receiving your brief. For international teachers, most four-year contracts we arrange are approved by the Department, immigration and VIT within 60 days.
Do you recruit for Catholic and independent schools?
Yes. We work with government, Catholic and independent schools across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
How do schools hire international teachers in Victoria?
The teacher needs VIT registration, a visa with work rights (usually the 482 or 407) and clear checks. We manage registration and the visa end to end with our migration lawyers. Read hiring international teachers.

We recruit for fixed-term and ongoing roles, not casual relief.
Can you recruit for regional schools?
Yes. We recruit across regional Victoria as well as Melbourne, and international candidates can widen the pool for hard-to-fill regional roles.
